At AST we love our parish and want to bless it. We are in the early stages of setting up St Thomas’ as a youth and community centre, as well as a place of worship. We are privileged to have been able to appoint Beth Larkey to the role of Youth and Community Pioneer and she is going to have a key role in setting up this centre. Beth will be investing time in getting to know the local area, building relationships and setting up (with volunteers) activities and services which engage with young people and other age groups. The dream is for this to be an intergenerational work which offers a youth drop in, coffee mornings for families and older people, a toddler group, opportunities for young people to be mentored, and a space that provides a listening ear for the community. It will offer a fun, creative, safe and welcoming space, where people can build good, healthy relationships; and the activities and services will be in line with the needs of the community. The centre will reflect the love of God and give opportunities for those who would like to, to learn more about the Christian faith.
